The School The original Victorian school was founded on Northgate in 1876 with 62 pupils. In 1973 a new infant school was opened at the Crake Wells site but the juniors remained in the old building, having to walk across the village for PE lessons and any 'whole school' activities. At the end of the 20th century, funding was finally released to enable the school to be reunited on one site. After an exciting period of planning and construction, the official opening of the consolidated building on Crake Wells, by Rt Hon David Blunkett, Secretary of State for Education and Employment, took place on 19 October 1999. Since then there have been further extensions and refurbishments as the school has grown. There are currently about 260 children on the roll.
